Optiarc AD-7240S firmwares released [Update]
The Optiarc AD-7240S firmwares 1.00 and 1.01 have been made available for download. Included are the RPC1 and bitsetting patches.
Thanks to Jamescooley1 and budzos for their patience testing my bitsetting code until it worked.
[Update]Pulled the bitsetting firmwares since they still seems to be buggy[/Update]
[Update2]Released fixed versions of the bitsetting firmwares again[/Update2]
Hey, guys. any chance of an Optiarc AD-7580S firmware anytime soon?

Unfortunately the AD-7580S is not based on a NEC chipset design as far as I know. So probably no chance of a firmware patch for this drive

Yep. Should be uploaded within the next few days. Patching is already done. However everything’s untested so far.

New firmware for AD 7240S
v1.02

Would it be possible to get a new bitsetting/RPC firmware for this?

Liggy, quick question:
Whats this mean:
“The firmware file expects a different bootcode on your drive. You are not allowed to continue.”
Found 0xFFF – expected 0×3038.
The previous firmware is BT/RPC1 v1.01.

Hi liggy, another question.
I was able to flash the drive with the original optiarc 1.02 for AD-7240S.
Once at 1.02, I tried binflash 1.47b and this firmware:
http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/download/en/7240s/102bt_rpc1.zip
If I dont use the drive letter, I get:
“The firmware file expects a different bootcode on your drive. You are not allowed to continue.
Found 0xFFFF – expected 0×3038.”
If I use the drive letter “E:”, then it flashes, but at the end it says:
“received unknown error code”
After getting this, I just reflashed the drive with the one from Optiarc (AD7240S_1020_1603.exe).
Everything is OK now, but would like to know what I should be doing to get 1.02 RPC1/BitSet in there.
Also, is there a place you prefer for discussions like this other than comments on the blog?
Thanks, mick

You best use the NEC forum for such questions (http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86)
But this error message generally means that not all commands required for flashing are properly passed to your drive. You may try running Windows in Safe Mode.
