New Firmware for 6650 drives

Yesterday I found a new firmware package for the NEC ND6650A in my mailbox. This package is only of interest for you, if you need or have a Reverse ATA drive. This means that Master and Slave are exchanged on the drive. Some notebooks require this functionality. But be sure to read the instructions before flashing this firmware.

In addition to this package there’s also a modified Reverse ATA 2.23 firmware that includes Bitsetting, Riplock and RPC1 patches.

Added bitsetting to some new firmwares

Yesterday I found some new firmwares in the NEC Forum and at some other locations, so I decided to add bitsetting code again. It didn’t take that long but I’ve been away all day, so I had to delay the release of these firmwares until today.

The modified 3500 – 2.1A firmware is available for download on our ND3500 pages and the 3520 firmware 3.05 is of course available on the ND3520 pages. :-)

The third firmware will be released, immediately after the base firmware is available from somewhere else.

First patched NEC ND6650A firmware available

After being stuck at work for some time today, I just finished modifying the 6650 firmware version 1.23 and the corresponding page on this site. The firmware contains bitsetting on all plus discs and there is a riplock removed and rpc1 version available.

These firmwares are untested, so you may encounter problems when trying this firmware.

Download ND6650A 1.23 bitsetting, riplock removed and RPC1 firmwares here.

Internet connection down at home

Yesterday my DSL connection should be upgraded from 3072/384 kbp/s to 6016/576 kbp/s. Since then I have no Internet access at home anymore
Pretty uncommon not to have Internet access at home. Keep your fingers crossed that they’re able to fix it today.

[Edit]It’s working again :-D [/Edit]

New patched 3530 Firmware

I just finished some modifications on a 3530 firmware from Dell that I found in this forum post. It’s the 103c firmware including Riplock and RPC1 patches. You can download this version on our 3530 page.
This firmware does not contain the usual Bitsetting patches. But I found out that I can still add bitsetting stuff to firmwares that do not have bitsetting code at all (like this firmware). It should only take a few minutes longer, but I was too lazy this time

1.W5 Firmware

Having got back from one weeks vacation and thinking i had better not leave all the work to Liggy :)
I decided to patch 1.W5 from Liggy’s 1.01e Bitsetting firmware.

Not a lot has changed regarding speedups in this version, but this base firmware does seem to burn media very well.

Finally patched 1.01e firmware

After spending most of my spare time on this site, I finally thought that it’s far enough to be shown to public. Did some work on making everything compatible with javascript disabled browsers and improved the disclaimer and download functionality.

Reaching this point, I spent an hour or two with adding full bitsetting capabilities to the 3540 firmware that I received two weeks ago. Did two test burns and everything seems to work as expected. Download this firmware from our NEC 3540 page.
