This firmware supports full bitsetting and comes in two versions.
1.Y2 RPC1 (RPC1 patch)
1.Y2 orig

Both firmwares share the same media speedups and tweaks

Our NEC 4550 page has just been updated with MadDog’s OEM firmware 1.f0. It seems to be basically the same as NEC’s 1.06 firmware. Original and RPC1 version are available for download.

Crossflashing a 3530 to a 3540 drive has just been tested by someone who doesn’t want to be mentioned.

First the good news – his drive is still alive. And now for the bad news – after crossflashing his drive, it was not able to recognize any disc. So we had to flash back to 3530 firmwares to make it work again.

So for everyone who wants to update his drive – it doesn’t seem to work at the moment

There was a bug in my Drive Converter that changed the ID to a wrong value. This resulted in the drive not being recognized by several tools anymore. A new version 1.21 has been uploaded that should be able to fix this problem again.

You might have to change to a different value (ND4150/4151) first, before you can apply the correct ID again.

Riplock and Region checks have been removed from Dell’s 104c firmware. Find them along with the original firmware on our ND3530 page.

Nothing much has changed though since 103C. Only one value was changed from 500 to 1,000 – but it’s still unclear what this value is used for.

The newly released NEC Drive Converter 1.2 fixes a bug that resulted in crashing after changing the ID or not even changing the ID at all.
