Yesterday I found a new firmware package for the NEC ND6650A in my mailbox. This package is only of interest for you, if you need or have a Reverse ATA drive. This means that Master and Slave are exchanged on the drive. Some notebooks require this functionality. But be sure to read the instructions before flashing this firmware.
In addition to this package there’s also a modified Reverse ATA 2.23 firmware that includes Bitsetting, Riplock and RPC1 patches.
Released LD3500 2.TE firmware for the ND-3500A/G drive.
The firmware is based on Liggy’s 2.1Abt firmware with selected speedups for -R and +R media.
Completely rewritten strategy swaps and tweaks.
Patched and released 2.U1 firmware for the ND-3520 drive with the usual speedups.
I had to completely rewrite the speedups and tweaks.
The firmware is based on Liggy’s 3.05bt
A modified firmware for the ND-3500 drive will follow later in the week
Yesterday I found some new firmwares in the NEC Forum and at some other locations, so I decided to add bitsetting code again. It didn’t take that long but I’ve been away all day, so I had to delay the release of these firmwares until today.
The modified 3500 – 2.1A firmware is available for download on our ND3500 pages and the 3520 firmware 3.05 is of course available on the ND3520 pages. 🙂
The third firmware will be released, immediately after the base firmware is available from somewhere else.
After being stuck at work for some time today, I just finished modifying the 6650 firmware version 1.23 and the corresponding page on this site. The firmware contains bitsetting on all plus discs and there is a riplock removed and rpc1 version available.
These firmwares are untested, so you may encounter problems when trying this firmware.
Download ND6650A 1.23 bitsetting, riplock removed and RPC1 firmwares here.
Yesterday my DSL connection should be upgraded from 3072/384 kbp/s to 6016/576 kbp/s. Since then I have no Internet access at home anymore 😥
Pretty uncommon not to have Internet access at home. Keep your fingers crossed that they’re able to fix it today.
[Edit]It’s working again :-D[/Edit]
I’ve uploaded some of our older firmware versions for the ND-3520, ND-3530 and ND-3540 drives.
You will find them on the relevant pages on the website.
I just finished some modifications on a 3530 firmware from Dell that I found in this forum post. It’s the 103c firmware including Riplock and RPC1 patches. You can download this version on our 3530 page.
This firmware does not contain the usual Bitsetting patches. But I found out that I can still add bitsetting stuff to firmwares that do not have bitsetting code at all (like this firmware). It should only take a few minutes longer, but I was too lazy this time 😳
Having got back from one weeks vacation and thinking i had better not leave all the work to Liggy 🙂
I decided to patch 1.W5 from Liggy’s 1.01e Bitsetting firmware.
Not a lot has changed regarding speedups in this version, but this base firmware does seem to burn media very well.
Reaching this point, I spent an hour or two with adding full bitsetting capabilities to the 3540 firmware that I received two weeks ago. Did two test burns and everything seems to work as expected. Download this firmware from our NEC 3540 page.
